Florida State University’s Center for Global Engagement welcomed 96 new international students from 36 countries to campus this spring. Forty-two undergraduate students, including 21 students transferring in from FSU's Republic of Panama Branch Campus, 23 master’s students and 20 doctoral students made up the majority of the new group.

This fall 20 FSU students were awarded the Global Citizenship Certificate (GCC) at a graduation ceremony on Wednesday, December 4, marking the beginning of their journey as life-long global citizens.
Five F-1 international students from The Bahamas encourage anyone in the FSU community who is interested in supporting Hurrican Dorian relief efforts to contribute monetary donations. Four of the students are from Nassau and one is from Grand Bahama, which was one of the two most devastated locations in The Bahamas.

Three FSU students who came to Tallahassee from FSU’s Republic of Panama branch campus won Modo Labs' Ideathon™ at FSU with an app they developed during the competition. The Ideathon™ is a weekend-long competition full of fun and innovation where students take their ideas and build them into an app – no coding skills necessary.
Angélique Stevens and Betty Jensen joined the CGE's staff as international student advisors in December and January, respectively. They helped welcome new international students at the CGE's orientation and have met current students during walk-in advising hours.
The Center for Global Engagement welcomed more than 124 new international students from 38 countries to campus this spring during orientation. New students had the opportunity to network and make friends, learn about FSU’s campus and resources, as well as the details of maintaining their immigration status.
Dr. Mina T. Gabor, President and Founder of the International School of Sustainable Tourism in the Philippines, will offer a public presentation on the development and current status of the International School of Sustainable Tourism as well as eco-tourism and farm tourism in the Philippines on Friday, Oct. 26, from 2-4:30 p.m. in The Globe Room 2300. Dr. Gabor's presentation will be followed by an open discussion on opportunities for collaboration with ISST for FSU faculty and students.
Apply for the Global Citizenship Certificate Scholarship by November 1 to receive a scholarship toward a Global Exchange program at one of FSU’s 40+ international partner universities.
Last week, the Center for Global Engagement, under the Division of Student Affairs, hosted a celebration in recognition of the ten-year partnership with the School of Global Japanese Studies at Meiji University located in Tokyo, Japan.
Manfa Sanogo, a doctoral candidate from Côte d'Ivoire studying French and francophone literature, was awarded the Chateaubriand Fellowship to perform research at the University of Paris-Nanterre during the next academic year.
The Chateaubriand Fellowship is a prestigious program offered by the Embassy of France in the United States in order to foster academic exchange between scholars from France and the United States.
