Can I graduate from GCC with honors?
Absolutely! Completing the GCC with Honors is open to all students, including honors and non-honors students as an effort to give non-honors students an opportunity for an enriched honors learning experience.
- You don't have to be an honors student to graduate from GCC with Honors.
- Students who complete GCC with honors will have this distinction noted on their transcripts.
Is graduating from GCC with honors the same as graduating with honors in the major?
No, they are not the same. If you have any questions about how to get admitted to Honors in the Major or how to become a member of the University Honors Program, please visit honors.fsu.edu or contact the Honors in the Major Program at HITM@fsu.edu.
How can I graduate from GCC with honors?
You must meet the following criteria for completing GCC with Honors:
- 3.2 overall GPA.
- 3.5 GPA in all certificate courses.
- This means you need to maintain a 3.5 GPA in IDS 2431/2460 Global Perspectives and in all of your elective courses.
- Complete any one of the following options:
- Option 1: Take a fourth elective course at the 2000, 3000, or 4000 level from the Approved Elective Course List, and submit the GCC with Honors Elective Reflection Paper form within 10 days of the course end.
- Option 2: Replace one of your electives with a 5000 level graduate course with a cross-cultural or global theme, and submit the GCC with Honors Elective Reflection Paper form within 10 days of the course end. This course must be pre-approved by the GCC Program Director (globalcitizen@fsu.edu)
- Complete the GCC with Honors Final Synthesis Paper after all your other GCC requirements are finished
- This reflection paper is over and above your course reflections, event reflections, and the sustained experience reflection.
