COVID-19 Updates for FSU Departments Working with International Students & Scholars

Beginning Friday, March 20, all administrative offices at FSU will be closed but providing services remotely, due to the COVID-19 emergency.

The Center for Global Engagement staff will continue to provide services for international students and departments, Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm but our building will be closed.

Contacting a CGE staff member

You and students can contact advisors via email and can submit documents to them via Dropbox or email. We are asking students to submit applications (e.g. OPT, CPT) to their CGE advisor via Dropbox or email. If an application requires a department signature, we are telling students that an electronic signature is sufficient. If we receive a drop/add form or a major change form, we will sign and forward it to the appropriate office.

Online Enrollment

  • The Department of Homeland Security has confirmed that F-1 and J-1 students can maintain their status even though all classes switch to on online for the rest of the semester.
  • We ask our students to update their address if they are in the U.S. but at an address different from the one currently listed as their mailing address in my.fsu.edu. Students on OPT update their addresses through the SEVP Portal.
  • Students who leave the U.S. and continue their online enrollment while abroad, should email their CGE advisor. Their advisor will update SEVIS to show that the student is studying abroad.

H-1B or other Employment-Based Applications

Send documents electronically to Luciana Hornung, lhornung@fsu.edu. Contact her about delivering checks for the application fees.

We appreciate your understanding as we work to continue providing service while respecting the need for precautions due to COVID-19.
