CGE Takes Home Hardware from 2026 DSA Awards
Each year, the Division of Student Affairs (DSA) Awards bring together departments from across Florida State University to celebrate individuals and teams whose achievements strengthen campus life. At this year’s ceremony, two outstanding members of the CGE were recognized for their lasting impact and distinguished service. Leigh Ann Bauer, CGE Global Exchanges Program Director, received the Artes Skill Award, while CGE Director Cindy Green, Ed.D., was honored with the inaugural Legacy Achievement Award.
The Artes Skill Award recognizes employees who demonstrate exceptional expertise and deep knowledge within their functional area. Honorees are regarded by colleagues as trusted experts whose experience and insight advance the Division’s mission. Bauer has been part of CGE since August 2006, beginning as International Student Services Coordinator before serving as Assistant Director of Intercultural Programs from 2011 to 2014 and then stepping into her current role. Chloe Mueller, CGE Global Exchanges Advisor and one of Bauer’s nominators, praised her leadership and mentorship. “As a newer employee, Leigh Ann has been an incredible mentor and supervisor,” Mueller said. “I have learned so much from her about international exchanges and all the small details that go into coordinating these programs. She is truly an expert in the field, thanks to her experience, and she continually strives to learn more to make FSU Global Exchanges rewarding for participating students.”
This year also marked the inaugural presentation of the Legacy Achievement Award, which honors a career defined by sustained excellence, leadership and a deep commitment to enhancing the student experience. Associate Vice President of Student Affairs Dr. Brandon Bowden spoke to Green’s profound influence on international education at FSU. “Dr. Cindy Green has dedicated her life to international education and student support,” Bowden said. “For the past two decades, she has been instrumental in expanding the work of the Center for Global Engagement and playing a significant role in globalizing the FSU campus. Her advocacy and passion for working with international students is unmatched.” He also highlighted Green’s steady leadership during challenging times. “At every turn, she is always thinking about how we can make the student experience better for our international students. In times of uncertainty, she has been a calming and reassuring presence. I can think of no one more deserving of this newly designated award, and it is fitting that she is the first to receive it.”
Both Bauer and Green were pleasantly surprised when their names were announced. “It was an incredible honor and surprise to receive the Artes Skill Award,” Bauer said. “I’m so grateful to work with such an amazing group of colleagues at the CGE and to be part of a team that helps students have life-changing experiences on exchange programs around the world.” Green echoed the sentiment, adding, “The CGE team is the hardest working and most impactful group on campus. It has been a pleasure working with such dedicated people.”
The CGE team was proud to celebrate Bauer and Green as they received these well-earned honors—recognizing careers defined by expertise, dedication and a lasting impact on the FSU community.
