New International Student Advisors Join the CGE

Angélique Stevens and Betty Jensen joined the CGE's staff as international student advisors in December and January, respectively. They helped welcome new international students at the CGE's orientation and have met current students during walk-in advising hours.

Angélique joins the CGE after serving international students for three years in the Office of International Student Services at Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA. Originally from France, she was an undergraduate exchange student at Willamette University before graduating with a Master of Arts in International Education Management from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey.

"I can't wait to meet more of our students and scholars," Angélique said. "I welcome any questions, and I look forward to addressing their concerns and connecting them with the best resources."

Angélique will serve as FSU’s J-1 scholar advisor and will advise F-1 graduate students with last names beginning M – V. Contact Angélique at apstevens@fsu.edu and 850 645-1424.

Betty joins the CGE after 28 years at Tallahassee Community College, the last 18 working with international students. Betty has been a leader in the field of international education, serving on multiple committees within NAFSA: Association of International Educators and founding the Florida International Leadership Conference (FILC).

“As a seasoned international educator, it gives me a great deal of pleasure to join the ISSS staff at FSU, my alma mater," Betty said. "Working with international students and helping them achieve their goals while also learning from them has been one of the things I have valued the most in my life; it hasn’t been a job, it has been my career!”
