CGE Global Noles Welcome FSU's New Global Exchange Students

Global Noles, the CGE's mentor program designed to support incoming exchange students, recently welcomed 42 new incoming exchange students from 18 partner institutions in 12 countries who will attend FSU for either fall semester or the academic year. New incoming exchange students and Global Noles have attended several events on campus together and Global Noles have helped these students in their transition to life at FSU.

Incoming exchange students joined us from partnerships with Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Netherlands; Oldenburg University, Germany; Soongsil University, South Korea; Waseda University, Japan; and University of Sussex, United Kingdom, and other partners in France; Germany; Macau, SAR China; Hong Kong, SAR China; Australia; Spain; and New Zealand.

“I learned about FSU from my student exchange advisor at my home university,” said Avish Ram, exchange student from the University of Waikato in New Zealand. “I got a good sense that FSU was a massive learning institution both in size and population, with a really good academic program as well as a college with an energetic social lifestyle. So far I’m really impressed, and I’m looking forward to American college life.”

The CGE offers the Global Nole mentor program to assist incoming exchange students with their pre-arrival questions and adjustment to life once at FSU. Exchange students are paired with volunteer FSU undergraduate students, many of whom have studied on a Global Exchange or have interest in going on an exchange. Global Nole mentors communicate with the new students before they arrive to Tallahassee and participate in social events to ensure they become involved in campus life as quickly as possible. Students interested in applying to be a Global Nole for 2019-2020 can email Danielle Blackfield at dblackfield@fsu.edu for application information.

As part of the exchange with other universities, FSU sent 31 students to study internationally for either this fall semester or the academic year at one of our 40+ partner universities around the world. These students earn FSU credits, pay FSU tuition, and use their existing financial aid. Find out more about FSU’s Global Exchanges by visiting global.fsu.edu/exchanges to review the exchange program list or attend an information session, offered on Wednesdays at 12:00 p.m. & Thursdays at 2:00 p.m. in The Globe, Room 2300.

Applications for Spring 2019 are due October 1*, and applications for Summer 2019, Fall 2019 and the next Academic Year are February 1*.
