Women's Basketball International Student Night February 9
Florida State University Athletics and the Center for Global Engagement invite students to come out and show their support for the FSU women’s basketball team and international student athletes at the FSU vs. Wake Forest game on Thursday, February 9, 2017, at 7 p.m.
Here are some fun facts about our current international team members.
Iho Lopez from Blanes, Spain (#22 – Forward)
- Lopez ranked as the 19th-best forward in the ESPNW 2016 recruiting class.
- She is a Freshmen at FSU.
- She participated with Maria Conde on the first-place U20 European Championship team in 2016, playing an average of 16.4 minutes.
Ama Degbeon from Grünberg, Germany (#25 – Center)
- Degbeon was a Golden Torch Award Winner her Sophomore season.
- She is a Junior majoring in biological science.
- One of her most memorable wins was finishing first in the U20 European Championship in summer 2014.
Maria Conde from Madrid, Spain (#11 – Forward)
- Conde earned valuable playing time as a first-year player, playing in all 33 games and averaging 3.9 points, 2.1 rebounds, and shot 39.3 from the floor off the bench.
- She is a Sophomore majoring in business.
- She has been known to put the message, “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself,” in a fortune cookie after receiving the idea from one of her coaches in Madrid.
Leticia Romero from Las Palmas, Spain (#10 – Guard)
- Romero was a 2016 Silver Olympic Medalist for Spain.
- She is a Senior majoring in international affairs.
- One of her superstitions before a game is always sitting in the same spot in the film room.
