New International Students Arrive for Fall
The new students bring inspiring stories, academic ambitions, and a shared excitement to be part of the FSU community.
Florence Antwi, a doctoral student from Ghana, spoke about how she previously studied in Wyoming but wanted the experience of a larger university. Her academic advisor helped guide her to FSU’s Geography program, where she looks forward to taking advantage of everything the university has to offer.
Brenda Ndayizeye, a Political Science undergraduate student from Australia, heard of Florida State’s strong College of Social Sciences and Public Policy and was eager to apply and happy to be accepted. She said that finding housing was relatively easy for her and she lives on campus in Degraff. She is most excited to explore FSU’s recreational activities and make new friends.
Yuzu Ito, a Global Exchange student from our partner Waseda University in Tokyo, is interested in Tourism & Hospitality. After a 16-hour long journey to the United States, she is happy to be settled in Ragans Hall in the Japanese Language House. She was selected by her home institution, out of the five incoming students from Waseda, to live in the Japanese Language House and assist FSU students majoring in Japanese to strengthen their language skills. Ito is very excited to experience her first American football game and learn about American culture.
Babatunde Adigun, a doctoral student from Nigeria, selected FSU for its English Language and Literature program. He was initially drawn to the university's rich research history and inspiring campus environment. He shared that he aims to "push for excellence", "write groundbreaking new pieces", and "acquire skills he can take back home to help improve his community."
