InternatioNole to Perform Fusion Dance at International Bazaar

FSU’s InternatioNole student group will perform a Fusion dance at the Center for Global Engagement’s annual International Bazaar this Saturday, February 18.

Fusion has become a signature dance the group performs that blends dance styles and music from diverse cultures. InternatioNole provides opportunities for international students and U.S. students to develop relationships and share their cultures; the Fusion dance is just one of many ways they do this. The cultures and languages represented in Saturday's performance are Indian, Romanian, Spanish, Portuguese, Ivorian, Arabic, French, American, Filipino, Colombian, Jamaican, and Korean.

“The InternatioNole Dance Crew is one of my favorite components of our organization,” said Monique Costner, InternatioNole president. “Being a part of the dance crew my freshman year lead me to becoming more heavily involved with the organization. It's amazing to see our members, in all of our diverse backgrounds and many of whom may not have any past dance experience, practicing and performing together. Our dance ultimately represents the fusion of cultures and people coming together through InternatioNole.”

InternatioNOLE is one out of a dozen groups performing at the International Bazaar. Attendees will also enjoy performances from the Azucar Dance Company, Jing Peng, Bangladeshi Student Association, Tallahassee Capoeira, Anhelo Tango Club, Hispanic Graduate Student Association, African Student Association, Lebanese Social Organization, Viva Flamenco, Tenshin Shoden Martial Arts Society and The FSU Belly Dancers.

Don’t forget to join us from 2-5 p.m. this Saturday in the FSU Union Ballrooms. For those who cannot attend, the Center for Global Engagement will be streaming a portion of the event through Facebook Live. So tell your friends and family around the globe, and follow us at facebook.com/fsucge
