International Students Enjoy Westminster Oaks Thanksgiving Dinner
To introduce international students to Thanksgiving, FSU’s Center for Global Engagement (CGE) partnered with the Westminster Oaks Retirement Community whose residents welcomed about 60 students on Sunday, November 19, for a Thanksgiving dinner.
Students enjoyed traditional Thanksgiving cuisine – such as turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes – with Tallahassee residents. In addition, the CGE provided international food from several local restaurants.
Each student had the opportunity to introduce themselves to the residents, sharing their home country and field of study. Westminster Oaks welcomed all international students to come back to volunteer.
Students can volunteer at Westminster Oaks through The Center for Leadership and Social Change’s Project LOVE (Loving Our Valued Elders). Volunteers accompany residents to Monday Night Music, a weekly program featuring local musicians.
