Global Partner Certificate Develops Global Competency, Cross-Cultural Communication Skills

The CGE offers the Global Partner Certificate to FSU’s staff, faculty, or graduate students who are interested in developing a well-rounded understanding of diverse cultures and cross-cultural communication skills.

The certificate requires participation in four required Bridging Cultures workshops and three additional intercultural events, programs, or activities.

Through these workshops, participants learn about intercultural communication differences across a variety of cultures, how to effectively manage intercultural conflict, and they even learn more about themselves in the process.

“Participants complete an Intercultural Effectiveness Scale test, which is a tool used to analyze each person’s current values, attitudes, beliefs and actions,” said Elcin Haskollar, Ph.D., the CGE’s Intercultural Education Specialist. “This helps them to identify the areas they need to develop to be more effective at cross-cultural engagement.”

Every week the participants receive a newsletter that highlights a series of events they can attend. Additionally, Bridging Cultures workshops are held at The Globe on Global Café dates to help participants fulfill the requirements of the certificate.
