Global Citizenship Certificate Graduation Ceremony Celebrates Student Success
On December 5, 2025, the Center for Global Engagement (CGE) held the Global Citizenship Certificate (GCC) Graduation Ceremony honoring the 11 students, including 4 graduates with honors, who completed this distinguished academic program.
The event featured congratulatory remarks from COSSPP Dean Dr. Timothy Chapin and Director of International Affairs Dr. Na’ama Nagar; both emphasizing the importance of programs like the GCC in fostering intercultural competence and global awareness.
GCC students during the ceremony and throughout the post-graduation reception spoke on how this program enriched their FSU experiences and prepared them for life beyond campus. Madison Trusty, FSU hospitality major, volleyball athlete and GCC graduate, reflected on how GCC broadened her perspective: “As an athlete it’s really easy to get stuck in the bubble of the athletics world, but [the GCC] is a really great way to branch out and learn about everything Florida State has to offer in terms of intercultural involvement. I met a lot of really cool people and learned a lot of stuff that will help me in the post-grad world.”
Faith Parkinson, an International Affairs/Asian Studies major and GCC Student Assistant, highlighted the value of local global connections: “The best part of the GCC has been about connecting with the international community that’s based in FSU and Tallahassee. I really enjoy taking the skills I’ve learned through studying abroad and applying them in my everyday academic life. I think it’s important that we take that Global Citizenship to a local level.”
The ceremony celebrated not only academic achievement but also the commitment of these students to global engagement and cultural understanding. To learn more about the GCC, visit https://cge.fsu.edu/global-citizenship-certificate
