FSU Students Impacted by Hurricane Dorian Encourage Relief Efforts
Five F-1 international students from The Bahamas encourage anyone in the FSU community who is interested in supporting Hurrican Dorian relief efforts to contribute monetary donations. Four of the students are from Nassau and one is from Grand Bahama, which was one of the two most devastated locations in The Bahamas.
Shaquania Dorsett, master’s student studying public health from Grand Bahama, encourages the FSU community to make a donation through the government’s official relief efforts website: www.bahamas.com/relief.
“For my island, the devastation is pretty bad. More than 70 percent of the island was under water at that time. More than 45 percent of homes were lost,” Dorsett said. “I have friends whose houses are completely gone, and the death toll is still rising. Right now monetary donations are most helpful.”
