CGE Welcomes New International Students at Fall 2019 Orientations

The Center for Global Engagement welcomed more than 450 new international students from 64 countries and areas to campus this fall. New students had the opportunity to network and make friends, learn about FSU’s campus and resources, as well as the details of maintaining their immigration status.

FSU’s incoming international students include 146 undergraduate students and 308 graduate students, making FSU’s total population of international students over 2,400 from more than 120 different countries and areas.

As part of FSU’s Global Exchanges, 47 international exchange students from 23 partner institutions in 11 countries and areas arrived to study for either fall semester or the academic year. As part of the exchange programs, 25 FSU students are studying internationally for either this fall semester or the entire academic year at one of our 45+ partner universities around the world. Outbound FSU student pay FSU tuition and fees and can use their financial aid toward their exchange. Interested students can learn more about FSU's Global Exchanges by attending an info session, which are held every Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. and every Thursday at 12:00 p.m. in The Globe Room 2600.

More than 50 of the new undergraduates for fall arrived at FSU’s main campus after completing two years of study at FSU’s Republic of Panama branch campus, which was founded in 1957 and offers over 88 bachelor's degrees. Students at the FSU-Panama campus have the option of participating in the 2+2 program and completing their last two years on the FSU main campus.

In addition, 11 undergraduate and graduate students are enrolled in the FSU Special Academic Program (SAP), studying in areas of engineering, finance, financial math, and public health. This non-degree program allows students to prepare for graduate study at FSU and provides social, cultural and academic support to help them be successful during their first year in the United States.
