CGE Announces Spring 2020 Global Café Dates

FSU’s Center for Global Engagement will co-host five Global Cafés in spring on select Fridays from 11:30 a.m. until food runs out in The Globe Dining Room.

Students, faculty, staff, and members of the Tallahassee community enjoy authentic international cuisine and music at this student-led fundraiser for just $10 per plate (cash or check only). Spring semester Global Café dates and co-hosts include the following.

  • January 24: Lebanon, Lebanese Social Organization
  • February 7: Italy, Gamman Kappa Alpha National Italian Honor Society at FSU
  • February 28: Dominican Republic, Dominican Student Association
  • March 13: Bangladesh, Bangladeshi Student Association
  • April 3: Philippines, Filipino Student Association

This student-centered program increases awareness and appreciation of cultural diversity on our campus and serves as a fundraiser for Registered Student Organizations (RSOs).

“By hosting a Global Café, RSOs can share their culture through a meal, provide community service opportunities for students, and raise funds,” said Richelle De Jesus, FSU senior studying criminology and senior advisor for the Dominican Student Association. “DSA is excited to host a Global Café this semester on February 28 as a part of the Dominican Student Association Week celebrating the Dominican Republic’s Independence Day.”

Student groups who are interested in co-hosting a Global Café in the future may contact Laura Dean at lmdean@fsu.edu.

Global Cafés count as an intercultural event for undergraduates enrolled in the Global Citizenship Certificate or faculty and staff completing the Global Partner Certificate.
