Begin Planning for Your Global Exchange Early

FSU students interested in studying internationally through Global Exchanges can maximize their experience by planning in advance, sometimes beginning a year to a year and a half before departure. The next deadline to participate in a fall 2021 or 2021-2022 academic year exchange is February 1.

Global Exchanges offer students an immersive international experience studying at one of FSU’s 45+ partner universities in more than 20 countries, including Australia, Japan, South Korea, the Netherlands, France, and the United Kingdom, to name a few!

Take classes in English or strengthen skills in another language, all while fulfilling your academic requirements, paying FSU tuition, and using your financial aid.

FSU senior Mason Ashford studying marine biology traveled to the University of Waikato in Hamilton, New Zealand, during Spring 2020. As a STEM major, Ashford had many academic considerations to weigh when planning her exchange, but she encourages FSU students to take a chance and seize the opportunity to apply for a semester exchange program.

“This experience has definitely instilled a lot of self-confidence in me,” Ashford said. “This allowed me to see how capable I am at planning and being independent. I also have met so many people from all around the world and it makes me want to travel to more places. It opened my eyes to how many opportunities there are outside of the United States to further my education or have a career.”

Ashford is a Garnet and Gold Scholar and is enrolled in the Global Citizenship Certificate. Her experience with Global Exchanges counts toward requirements for both programs. Returning students can also get involved with other leadership opportunities such as the Global Nole Mentor Program or apply to attend the Florida International Leadership Conference.

Search available programs at global.fsu.edu/exchange. Interested students can also sign up for an advising appointment with the Global Exchanges advisors, Leigh Ann and Ray, who can help narrow down the options and explain the application process.
