Apply Now to Go Beyond Borders

***UPDATE: Application dates for BB Jamaica have been extended to Friday, October 5, 2018.

Applications are now open for students who would like to gain an important intercultural experience through Beyond Borders. Participants chosen for this program are engaged in an enriching, cross-cultural exchange to either Kingston, Jamaica, during Spring Break 2019, or Dresden, Germany, for three weeks following the spring semester.

Participants welcome students from our partner institutions and help orient them to American campus life. Then they travel abroad and experience cultural immersion with the same international students in either Jamaica or Germany. Students gain life-long friendships, interpersonal and intercultural skills, as well as developing self-awareness and a global mindset.

The deadline to apply for BB Jamaica is September 14, and the deadline for BB Germany is October 22. Attend an information session to learn more about the program and get your questions answered. Scholarships are available.

“Being a part of Beyond Borders gave me the chance to connect with students from The University of the West Indies, which helped expose me to cultural roots of the Jamaican people,” said Diosili Salazar, Beyond Borders Jamaica alumna and Global Citizenship Certificate student. “I often find myself reminiscing about our experience because I learned to appreciate and understand this beautiful culture that reminds me of my own.”

The Sherrill W. Ragans Scholarship Fund, established in 2017,  provides four $500 scholarships for students who have been accepted to participate in the Beyond Borders Jamaica Program. The Max Kade Foundation Scholarship Fund, established in 2018, provides four $750 scholarships for students who have been accepted to participate in the Beyond Borders Germany Program.
