Apply Now to Experience Life as an Exchange Student

Are you interested in studying for a semester or two in another country? Apply to go on one of FSU’s 40+ Global Exchanges for the upcoming spring semester by October 1.*

FSU’s Global Exchanges provide students with a unique opportunity to study at one of FSU’s prestigious international partner universities while paying FSU tuition, earning FSU credits, and using financial aid.

“Studying abroad afforded me a once in a lifetime opportunity to explore the world around me and get to know myself better,” said Zoe Ezechiels, FSU senior studying communications and theatre. “The Global Exchange program really pushed me to embrace my love of adventure. I was determined to go to Korea and immerse myself fully into the culture.”

FSU students can study in English or learn another language in an immersive setting. Zoe decided to take two of her classes in Korean to round out her study of the language.

One of Zoe’s favorite cultural experiences while in South Korea was getting the opportunity to participate in the Paju Jangdan, or Soybean Festival, celebrates the city of Paju and how agriculture supports the local economy. She went to the Museum of Modern History of Korea and marched in the parade while wearing a traditional Korean school uniform. Afterward, she watched different performers highlight Korean dance through the ages and enjoyed Kimbap, a dish enjoyed by Koreans around the country.

Students must apply by October 1 in order to participate in a Global Exchange during spring 2019 or by February 1 for summer 2019, fall 2019, or academic year 2019-20. Interested students should attend an information session, which are held weekly on Wednesdays at 12:00 p.m. and Thursdays at 2:00 p.m. in The Globe (GME Building) room 2300.

Exchange students can enroll in the Global Exchange Formative Experience course, which satisfies one of the two Scholarship-in-Practice graduation requirements. FSU Global Exchange also fulfills the sustained experience requirement for the Global Citizenship Certificate.

Returning students can also find intercultural service and leadership opportunities with the Global Noles, a mentoring program for incoming exchange students; the Going Global Showcase held during International Education Week annually; and the Florida International Leadership Conference.

FSU undergraduate students who are enrolled in the Global Citizenship Certificate program and the Garnet & Gold Scholar Society, and have been accepted into an exchange program, are eligible to apply for the Global Citizenship Certificate Scholarship by November 1. Students are awarded $1,000 for a spring exchange or $500 for summer exchange. For more information about the scholarship, visit cge.fsu.edu/globalcitizen.
