Apply for Beyond Borders, Explore Germany

Develop a deeper understanding of German culture through the Center for Global Engagement's short-term cultural exchange program: Beyond Borders. The deadline to apply for this academic year is Tuesday, November 2.

Participating FSU students welcome incoming international students from Germany to FSU's campus. Then FSU students in the program travel abroad and experience cultural immersion with the same international students in Germany from May 1 to May 22. Students enjoy attending local museums and historical sites, hiking, and making day trips to nearby towns.

"Beyond Borders is a wonderful, unique program that allows cross-cultural exchange, communication, and personal growth," said Michelle Lawson, CGE Programs Coordinator. "Not only do FSU students get a chance to visit Studentenwerk in Dresden (SWDD), but they also have the opportunity to host SWDD students at FSU. This program is insightful, fun, and a truly great experience!"

Selection for this program is a competitive process; only 10 students are selected for the Beyond Borders Germany program. Students must enroll in a one-credit-hour course in the spring to prepare for their international experience.

FSU students who have participated in the program have gained life-long friendships, interpersonal and collaboration skills, intercultural communication skills, a global mindset, self-awareness, adaptability and resiliency.

Interested students can visit cge.fsu.edu/beyondborders for more information and to apply or attend an info session held on Wednesdays at 4 p.m. and Fridays at 12 p.m. in The Globe Auditorium.
