2018-2019 Provost's LAC Scholarship Recipients

The Provost’s Latin America/Caribbean Merit Scholarship provided 9 new international students from St. Maarten, Nicaragua, Colombia, Brazil, Peru, and the Dominican Republic, with scholarships for one or two semesters of the 2018-2019 academic year.

Through this scholarship, the students receive a scholarship of $500 for one or two semesters and classification as a Florida resident for tuition purposes, during the semester(s) of the scholarship.

This year, scholarship recipients are studying subjects such as finance, criminology, biochemistry, communications, and political science.

“I want to start my own nonprofit and spread it throughout the world,” said Maria Paula Velasco undergraduate studying political science. “I would like to work in public office later on to effect change at the policy level.”
