Transferring Your SEVIS Record to FSU

If you are currently an international student in active F-1 or J-1 status and you plan on continuing in the same status while studying at FSU, prior to the end of your current status/grace period, make sure to be admitted to FSU and discuss your SEVIS transfer with an International Student Advisor at the school listed on your Form I-20/DS-2019. If your SEVIS Record can be transferred, you and your advisor must complete the SEVIS Transfer Request form in NoleStart, under Requests. You will need to complete this form in addition to the required I-20/DS-2019 Application. You must submit both forms and have your SEVIS Record transferred to FSU (FSU’s school code or program number will be needed to arrange the transfer; F-1 School code: MIA214F00074000; J-1 Program Number: P-I-01280) before the Center for Global Engagement can issue you a transferred Form I-20 or DS-2019.

Please be aware of the following:

1. Your SEVIS record can be released and transferred to only ONE school/institution. If you have any questions about the SEVIS transfer process, it is best to discuss your concerns with the international student advisor at the school listed on your I-20/DS-2019.

2. All employment at the current school MUST CEASE on the official release date of your SEVIS record to FSU. You may work only at the school that has responsibility for your SEVIS record. If you are approved for Optical Practical Training (OPT), your OPT is completed and you must stop working on the release date of your SEVIS record to FSU. Any OPT employment that continues after this date is considered unauthorized.

3. If you will travel outside of the U.S. between when you finish at your current school or using OPT and when you begin classes at FSU, you will need to have your Form I-20 or DS-2019 for your program of study at FSU when you re-enter the US. Please communicate with your current international student advisor and the CGE about your travel plans. You will be able to download your I-20 or DS-2019 from the Nole Start system.

4. You are required to attend the CGE's new international student orientation. For details and orientation dates when available, see this page.
