Applying to FSU

Prospective Students

The Application Process

Once admitted, the student submits proper financial documentation

The university is required by U.S. federal regulations to verify the financial resources of each applicant prior to issuing the Certificate of Eligibility (Form I-20 for F-1 visa applicants or Form DS-2019 for J-1 visa applicants). Once the student is admitted, the student must complete their Certification of Financial Responsibility(CFR).

The CGE advisor issues the appropriate immigration form

The immigration form is issued only if:

  • the student has been admitted to the university (and, for graduate student applicants, their graduate department) AND
  • the CFR has been completed and the student has provided proof of adequate funds
