FSU Students Prepare for Their Spring 2026 Global Exchange
Forty FSU students attended their pre-departure meeting this past week in preparation to embark on immersive international experiences in 15 different countries next spring semester. FSU Global Exchanges, which has 45+ partner universities in 20 countries, received the highest number ever of spring applications this year. There was much interest in new partners such as IE University in Madrid, MICEFA in Paris, and Meiji University in Tokyo. Other students are heading for Waseda University in Japan, Seoul National University and Hanyang University in South Korea, University of Alicante in Spain, University of Lisbon in Portugal, Aalborg University in Denmark, NEOMA Business School in Rouen, University of Salzburg in Austria, Swansea University, University of Sussex and University of Surrey in the U.K., WHU and LMU in Germany, Erasmus University and University of Groningen in the Netherlands, University of the Antilles in Martinique, Mahidol University in Thailand, NCCU in Taiwan, Griffith University in Australia, and the University of Waikato in New Zealand.
Helena Assumpcao (Undergraduate, Finance) who is heading to IE University in Madrid said “I chose a Global Exchange as my study abroad experience because I found it exciting that the structure of the program gives you freedom where you are truly going alone to a different country and are integrated into an international university. I chose IE University in Madrid because it is a globally known prestigious school in one of my favorite cities in the world, which will make the entire experience more special.”
Gavin MacCarrick (Undergraduate, Pre-behavioral Neuroscience) is a spring outbound exchange student getting ready to go to Waseda University in Tokyo. His advice to any prospective FSU Global Exchange student is “Start [planning] early. It may seem overwhelming, but the administrators at Global Exchange answered so many questions over so many emails - they were incredibly helpful."
FSU Global Exchange Program also welcomes international students from our partner institutions to campus in return. This upcoming Spring semester, FSU will be welcoming 16 international exchange students from Martinique, Spain, South Korea, Italy, Sweden, Portugal, Japan and Australia. This group also includes the first two international exchange students from CGE’s newest partner university, Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU), one of the top three universities in South Korea.
Global Exchanges Program Director, Leigh Ann Bauer remarked "It is very exciting to see the range of locations and partner universities that these FSU students will be studying at this upcoming spring. Going on a Global Exchange is an incredible opportunity and I can’t wait to hear more about their experiences abroad in the months ahead." Bauer continued, "For the inbound students preparing to come to FSU, they have put a lot of effort into taking the necessary steps to arrive in January. Our team at the CGE is looking forward to welcoming them and to helping them make the most of their time on campus."
