The Globe

Licensed Kitchen and Dining Room

A licensed, restaurant style kitchen is available for student groups to reserve. The kitchen has two convection ovens, a gas stove, refrigerators, a freezer, a vegetable/meat sink and prep areas, two islands, and a scullery with commercial dishwasher and disposal. There is also a steam table and cold table in the dining room that must be used whenever food is served to the public. There are also pots, pans, and a wide variety of cooking utensils that can be checked out for use by groups. This space creates an added dynamic to a typical event and opens the doors to a range of possibilities.

Kitchen Supervisor and Interns

In order to ensure that all food preparation in the kitchen complies with the county health department requirements, and to ensure the safety of students at all times, it is required that the Kitchen Manager or Supervisor employed by The Globe be present at all times when the kitchen is being used by groups. Our kitchen staff will be present to assist you. They cannot help to cook and clean, but can provide you with guidance throughout your event to make sure everything go as smoothly as possible.

Safety and Sanitation Training

The KitchenUse of the kitchen is available only to those that have attended a Safety and Sanitation Training presented by Environmental Health & Safety. Kitchen reservations will only be confirmed to those groups who have members whose completion of the trainings are officially documented with the Environmental Health & Safety Office. These members of the groups must attend the trainings each semester, regardless if they have done the training before or not. Only those members will be allowed in the kitchen during the event.

Public Events Versus Private Events

Private events consist of events in which food will be served only to the members of your organization. Public events are events in which food will be served to anyone outside of your organization. Steam and cold tables are designed to keep food hot/cold and should be used to keep food at the proper temperature while serving. These tables are equipped with sneeze guards and all food must be under the sneeze guards if being served to anyone outside of your organization. An EHS form must be completed and submitted if the RSO plans to serve food to the public.

Policies and the form can be found at: http://www.safety.fsu.edu/foodevent.html

Reservations

The KitchenKitchen and dining room reservations must be made at least 10 business days in advance by submitting a request form. A reservation request is neither a confirmation nor a guarantee of space reservation. A confirmation will be sent to let you know whether the space is available within three business days.
