Step 1: Apply to FSU

We are excited that you are interested in studying at FSU!

The first step is to apply for admission* through the Office of Admissions. The International Admissions section provides information about application requirements related to English Language Proficiency, Test Scores, Academic Records, Deadlines, etc.

When you fill out the application, you will be required to enter your current and prospective visa statuses. If you are not sure what your visa status should be, see our New International Students page for information about studying at FSU in the F-1, J-1 and other visa statuses.

The Office of Admissions makes all final admission decisions. When they do so, you will receive an email from the Office of Admission notifying you that your Online Status Check has been updated. Only after you are formally admitted by the Office of Admission (not just accepted by a graduate department) can you proceed to Step 2: Obtain your Form I-20.

* Note: if you are an exchange student or an agency-administered scholarship student, you will not apply directly to the Office of Admissions.
