H-1B Temporary Professional Workers

Application Instructions

At Florida State University, H-1B petitions are filed by the Center for Global Engagement on behalf of university departments. When a department decides to employ someone in H-1B status, the department is responsible for gathering the required documentation and submitting it to the Center.

If you will be employed by Florida State University in H-1B status, you should ask your department to identify the person who will help organize the paperwork.

The department will use the checklists and information found in the links in the box on this page for initial H-1B (not currently employed by FSU), H-1B extension (extension of H petitions for current FSU employees) and amended petitions (notification to USCIS of changes in the terms and conditions in the employment of current employees).

If you have specific questions, check the information in the H-1B Overview/Q&A. If you still have questions, send email to Kristen Hagen (khagen@fsu.edu) or call 850-644-1702.
