The Provost’s Latin America/Caribbean Merit Scholarship provided six new international students from Peru, Bolivia, St. Maarten, and Brazil, with scholarships for the 2021-2022 academic year.

Students receive $500 for one or two semesters and classification as a Florida resident for tuition purposes during the semester(s) of the scholarship.

International students, scholars, and family members benefit from CGE's English Conversation Club held every Monday-Friday from 4-5 p.m. in The Globe Lounge when classes are in session at Florida State University.

CGE invites all levels of English as a Second Language (ESL) speakers to meet and practice conversational English in a relaxed atmosphere. These sessions are led by experienced English speakers.

Lacey Moret joins the CGE staff as an Immigration Coordinator with 6 years of experience in international education and 14 years of experience in higher education.

She is one of the first welcoming faces you see when you enter our International Student and Scholar Services suite. Lacey provides immigration-related services to F-1 and J-1 international students. She works with both CGE’s internal data management system, Sunapsis, and the U.S federal database, SEVIS.

Kristen Hagen, Associate Director of FSU’s Center for Global Engagement, received the NAFSA: Association of International Educators Region VII 2021 International Excellence Award.

This highly competitive award recognizes a venerable international education professional with more than 10 years of experience who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and has exemplified the true spirit of international educational exchange.
